It is really cool how pretty much anything made today can be environmentally friendly if the time and effort is put into the design to do so. As time goes on, design can only get better.

Response to... Matthew White gives the euphonium a new voice

It is neat when one can find another use for an instrument that is out of the norm. This makes this performance rightfully his. Yes, he may be performing another persons song but, he gave it his own twist using the euphonium, which is normally played in traditional brass bands.

The idea that different cultures take the same idea and put a different spin on it is interesting. For example, in the United States the streets have names whereas in Japan the streets do not have names, instead the blocks are numbered. So, what may be right in one country might not be true in another country.

The 11th Hour

The film, "The 11th Hour", is an eye-opening film that portrays the consequences humankind will face from treating the planet poorly. Just like how we have been for the past few decades. Hopefully people will watch this film and be able to walk away with a sense of urgency to slow the direction we are moving towards, which ultimately is extinction from the planet. Like the movie suggests, the environment will survive. It is the human race that will first have to adapt to extreme conditions of living including: extreme weather, scarce food supply, contaminated water resources, and many other harming factors. If actions are not taken now, living conditions will only get worse and casualties will become more common.
As a designer in this world at this time, there is plenty of work to be done. Our planet is in need of designers who can figure out solutions to the environmental problems we are facing now. Creating energy efficient anything will help to combat and slow the environmental changes we are seeing occur today. If action is not taken, the environment will start changing faster. I think it is an exciting and important time to be a designer on planet Earth.
